Out of the Depths I called Your Name
Like many others, Psalm 130 is full of deep emotion. What drew me to this particular psalm recently is the language of heartfelt confession and repentance, words spoken from a place of what I felt as seclusion and separation. Hebrew does not always translate smoothly, but enjoy this musical rendition inspired by the original language of the psalm.
Here are the lyrics:
Out of the depths, I call your name
O ADONAI, please hear me...
(Forgiveness is with You that you may be revered,
and my hope is in ADONAI, my soul awaits...)
(With ADONAI (LORD) is steadfast love.
O, LORD, hear, hear my voice)
Out of the depths I call your name,
From places dark, shimmering flame.
And you incline your ear to me,
My desperate cry and hopeful plea.
If you were to track my iniquities,
How could I stand, but on my knees.
I will bow low, I will confess,
With ADONAI, forgiveness rests.
Out of the depths, I call your name
O ADONAI, please hear me...
(Forgiveness is with You that you may be revered,
and my hope is in ADONAI, my soul awaits...)
(With ADONAI (LORD) is steadfast love.
O, LORD, hear, hear my voice)
From cloudy nights to morning clear,
Redemption sounds are drawing near.
With you, LORD, mercy always sure,
With you, compassion, it endures.
Oh, Israel, place hope again,
In boundless love that has no end.
God of forgiveness, make us whole,
We yearn, we wait, revive our souls.
Out of the depths, I call your name
O ADONAI, please hear me...
(Forgiveness is with You that you may be revered,
and my hope is in ADONAI, my soul awaits...)
(With ADONAI (LORD) is steadfast love.
O, LORD, hear, hear my voice)
Out of the depths, I call your name...
