"2 Enoch, The Book of Secrets: New Translation" by Pinchas Shir
Many have heard about "The Book of Watchers," largely because it's a platform for some very sensational claims. But "The Book of Secrets" (Slavonic Enoch), or what scholars call 2 Enoch, seems to elude the masses. Nevertheless, this ancient Jewish book also builds on the Enoch tradition. My translation presents the text in easy-to-read modern English and goes one step beyond. Since most Enoch scholars agree that this ancient text may originally have been in Aramaic or Hebrew, my new translation is, by necessity, somewhat reconstructive. It seeks to create a sense of one encountering a Semitic document by periodically using Hebrew terms alongside the English. This gives the book a more culturally nuanced and different feel if compared to other existing translations.
