Jerusalem Temple in Jewish Life and Spirituality (~4h)

Rabbi Jesus famously taught his disciples to pray that "things on earth should be as they are in heaven." (Matthew 6:10) This is not entirely new. In Torah, Moses was shown an important pattern in heaven, which he was to implement on earth (Exodus 25:40). This is a core principle of Jewish spirituality that relates to God's tangible presence in the midst of his people, which manifested as God's House (Gen 28:17, Ex 34:26, 1 Kings 5:5), the Temple.

Disclaimer: This topic might be interesting to some people, while others might find it irrelevant. These videos are a series of lessons I taught at my synagogue to explain the key role the Jerusalem Temple plays in modern Jewish worship. It's a niche, nuanced topic, and it doesn't speak to the broad audiences I often address. I am sharing these videos here reluctantly because I believe some students who study the first century CE and seek to better understand the essence of Temple worship may find these lessons helpful. I preserved some of the original audience comments. Please be mindful of my disclaimer :)
