Why Rabbinic Literature and the Gospels?

Why Rabbinic Literature and the Gospels?

Dr. Brad Young is head of the Gospel Research Center and author of several books on Jesus' parables and ministry in their Jewish context. In this lecture, Dr. Young discusses why rabbinic literature is, unfortunately, so often dismissed as a valuable source for understanding Jesus’ teachings. A common response to this proposal has been that the writings of the rabbis are too late to be useful. In this session Dr. Young begins his discussion of why they are indeed quite useful and relevant to the study of the New Testament world.

Dr. Brad Young wrote a couple very insightful books on this topic. One entitled "Parables: Jewish Tradition and Christian Interpretation" and another that comes to mind is "Meet the Rabbis: Rabbinic Thought and the Teachings of Jesus"
