The words of the prophets can only be understood in their context. Only the books of the prophets themselves do not always give much context. Usually, we encounter their oracles without any explanations. To make sense of the world of the biblical prophets, we have to develop a grasp of the basics: the world in which they lived, the geography, the neighbors who surrounded them (Part 01), and the historical era in which they lived (Part 02).

Though we know very little about the lives of most individual prophets, we know a lot more about their world. This multi-part seminar lays a foundation for exploring the social world, history, and lives of ancient prophets. This is the broad, big picture context we need to properly frame their writings.
