Striving for Unity in Diversity: Part Four (Romans 12-16 - 2h)

Striving for Unity in Diversity: Part Four (Romans 12-16 - 2h)

This series of lectures on Paul’s Letter to the Romans explains familiar concepts from a vector you may not have heard before. The structure of the letter itself informs us which topics are primary and which are peripheral. We move chapter by chapter, zeroing in on the most complicated sentences, considering Greek and Hebrew concepts, background, and omitting only the most peripheral content. I recommend you see parts one, two, and three.

In Part Four of this study, we focus on Chapters 12-16, in which Shaul teaches on practical matters that separated people in Rome and how they should be resolved. These are not theoretical ideas, but responses to very real problems in the community. The goal is to respect the differences and to find how a unity can be forged amid the diversity. This is the final segment where Shaul wraps up the letter, and it is typical of good teachers; Paul repeats himself a little and summarizes. Everything in this section reinforces what he already said before.
