Almighty's Wings My Shelter Be
Psalm 91 is a favorite for so many people because its words express powerful promises of divine protection. Feeling safe is something we can all identify with. Since deep antiquity, Jews have recited these words on a regular basis. So here is a new musical rendition of this Psalm's message in the form of a song.
Who finds the shelter of Most High, dwells in the shadow of Almighty.
Rescue and Fortress, ADONAI, beneath the wings of mercy, hiding.
The hunter's nets he will escape, God is his shield from arrow's flight
Avoid disease and deadly plague, fear of night when terror strikes.
Almighty's wings my shelter be
יהוה מַחְסִי וּמְצוּדָתִי
You rescue men from traps unseen
יהוה מַחְסִי וּמְצוּדָתִי
Salvation flows in times of need
יהוה מַחְסִי וּמְצוּדָתִי
As thousands fall on every side, my God, my Refuge, mighty song.
And thousands more as swords collide, You, ADONAI, my fortress strong.
As angels guard each step he takes, as evil stalks from left and right,
His foot is firm; his path is safe, they lift him up and move aside.
No evil shakes God's perfect plans; on serpents fierce, he treads with might.
His soul secure in sovereign hands, young lions trampled in God's sight.
No plague comes near the faithful tent; He sees the downfall of his foes.
ADONAI is a shield that does not bend, no matter what the gale throws.
Hebrew-English Interlinear Psalms
For those who love Psalms and especially love the way they sound in Hebrew, this handy volume presents them in an interlinear format. As it is with most poetry, sometimes translations are not so straightforward, and it's so easy to see what original words lay behind the English text. This volume allows students of Hebrew to quickly build their biblical Hebrew vocabulary and, at the same time, immerse themselves into their favorite psalms. I have used it for both study and for devotional reading as well. And I can recommend it for those who would like to try the Psalms in original and grow in their comprehension of the biblical language as they read.
