Where Can I Flee?
Psalm 139 meditates on God's pervasive presence in this world. There is no place where we can go that we escape God's presence, and there is no such place as too far away for God. Living with God in a world that He has made is a reality that one can either embrace or reject, but the facts remain the same... Enjoy this musical meditation based on the words of Psalm 139.
(אָנָה אֵלֵךְ מֵרוּחֶךָ
וְאָנָה מִפָּנֶיךָ אֶבְרָח)
Where can I flee, where can I hide?
Your Spirit stays close by my side.
If I ascend to heaven’s heights,
Or sink to She'ol's shadow night,
If on the wings of dawn I soar,
Or cross the seas to distant shores,
Even there, Your hand will stay,
To lead me on the narrow way.
O Lord, You search my heart, You know,
Each time I sit, each time I roam.
From far away, You see my aims,
Read my thoughts and know my name.
You watch me rest, devise my plans,
My secret roads, You know their end.
No whisper weak escapes Your ear,
You know it all and hold me near.
אָנָה אֵלֵךְ מֵרוּחֶךָ
וְאָנָה מִפָּנֶיךָ אֶבְרָח
If darkness wraps me in its veil,
Your light still shines and never fails.
The night to You is bright as day,
And darkness flees, I call your name.
My soul You made in realms beyond,
Inside my mother wove my bones.
Each step I take, I know it's true,
There is no way I'll part with You
Your ways Adonai, how vast they are,
Beyond men's reach, beyond the stars.
Like grains of sand by distant sea,
Your thoughts are mystery for me.
Search me, O God, and test my ways,
Reveal my heart, refine my days.
If idols rise, then pull me through,
And lead me on the path that’s true.
אָנָה אֵלֵךְ מֵרוּחֶךָ
וְאָנָה מִפָּנֶיךָ אֶבְרָח
