Gabriel's Revelation Stone

The Gabriel Revelation is an inscription on a stone found in Jordan dating back to around the beginning of the Common Era, roughly to the time of the birth of Jesus. It is the subject of a book by Israel Knohl, Messiahs and Resurrection in the Gabriel Revelation, published in 2009 by Shalom Hartman Institute and Continuum Books. Disclaimer: Be aware that many claims that Prof. Knohl makes can be seen as controversial and even undermining core Christian beliefs. As an academic, however, he is not pursuing such a goal. Conversely, his broader points should be appreciated by many Christ-followers who study the Second Temple era. His research illustrates that by the first century, many Jews yearned for the Messiah, and the New Testament depicts those unique hopes with amazing precision. You don't have to agree with Knohl's overall conclusions, but his research is very interesting.
